JKS : Japan Karate Shotorenmei

JKS is a unique organisation with impecable historical lineage to the creators of Shotokan Karate.  Initially under the leadership of Master Tetsuhiko Asai (deceased), JKS is now under the Directorship of Karate legend Masao Kagawa Sensei, 8th dan, who is represented in England, Ireland and Scotland by Alan Campbell 6th dan England, Scott Langley 5th dan Ireland, and Paul Giannandrea 5th dan Scotland.

What is JKS Karate?

Certain styles of Shotokan Karate are renowned for their hard, tense approach to techniques which can result in damaged joints and a decline in health.  This is not the case with JKS Karate, which is fluid, relaxed and good for ones health as well as being excellent for self defence.

Membership to JKS(GB) is a simple process, furthermore, for experienced Karateka, experience is acknowledged and there is ample scope to qualify as Examiners, Instructors and Referees etc.

Whilst clubs are left to adopt their own training methods and policies, without political interference or draconian “must do this and that” rules and regulations, there are regular events to train with JKS instructors including Sensei Kagawa, who visits Europe on regular basis. Clubs can also arrange their own special events with guest instructors.

If you are an experienced Dan grade in your own right you will be more than welcome and encouraged in every way to move forward without political interference or unreasonable demands.  For example, if you are a 3rd Dan with at least 15 years experience and you are running a club of your own you can qualify to become an Examiner up to 1st Kyu.  Furthermore there is no membership fee for clubs as long as your students are members of JKS.

Visits to Japan : In addition to regular JKS events in UK, Scotland and Ireland, there are annual trips to the mecca of Karate - Japan - which is a dream come true for martial artists.  You can see Mount Fuji, train in authentic Japanese Mountain Dojos and by travelling as a group costs are kept low.  It really is a trip of a lifetime.

By joining Eurokwai (JKS) Karate Club you will become a member of a unique martial arts organisation which offers you access to some of the best tuition in the Karate world today.   In addition to welcoming experienced Karateka at Eurokwai, we very much welcome  adult beginners of all ages both male and female, and with the JKS ‘family’ you will receive safe, structured tuition, which will develop a solid foundation for your journey to gaining your 1st Dan Black Belt.
